THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE COATING PRODUCTS
THE DURAPOX 4CS EPOXY POOL PAINT PRIMER
A fairly general and most serious problem pool owners encounter with Epoxy Pool (and other) Paint products on offer is the sustained bonding strength and durability of the epoxy primer and the pool surface substrate (Marbelite, concrete, fibre glass).
Due to the nature and purpose of a pool shell it is virtually impossible to ensure that the prepared pool surface is completely moisture (water) free prior to the application of the epoxy paint primer. Even where the surface appears to be dry a significant amount of residual moisture is retained/seeps into the substrate for various reasons but mainly due to reverse osmoses, compounded by hairline cracks, elevated water tables, leaking pipes etc.
It is therefore imperative that the composition of the epoxy primer be such that it is compatible with an acceptable level of residual moisture in the prepared substrate.
It goes without saying that a solvent based primer would tend to be repelled by moisture (water) and thus by using a solvent based primer, permeation into the substrate will be compromised resulting in poor bonding and endless problems over time.
For priming purposes DURAPOX 4CS Epoxy Primer employs a water reducible hardener with a compatible resin to establish an extremely durable bond with the prepared surface (substrate such as concrete, marbelite, or any other hard surface) irrespective of the retained moisture level in the pool shell (within limits of course).

It may be used on moist surfaces without any compromise to the quality of the bond between the primer and substrate. NB!
It has excellent penetrating properties.
When cured it has excellent chemical properties including high resistance to water, alkalis, salt, mineral- and vegetable oils, and aliphatic hydrocarbons etc.
It has a good pot life
It may be applied by conventional means such as brushes, rollers etc.
The DURAPOX 4CS water reducible Epoxy primer optimally bonds and permeates into the prepared pool shell with extreme resistance to cracking, bubbling, peeling and chipping induced by the constant mechanical stress on a pool structure.
Please again note that the use of a solvent based epoxy primer for pool structures with retained moisture levels is not advisable.
THE DURAPOX 4CS EPOXY TOPCOAT(S)
The DURAPOX 4CS Epoxy Pool Paint Topcoat is a liquid amino polyamide epoxide chemically compatible with the primer to ensure optimum and excellent layer lamination between the primer layers and the topcoat layers irrespective of the curing state of the consecutive layers.
This product produces a structurally tough, high build, high gloss finish and all four coats fully intergrates to provide a very durable laminated hard waring surface.
